Security device
The security device is always the mobile device on which the insured person set their Barmer PIN during the upgrade or when registering their user account. Usually, this is the insured person's mobile phone.
Once the insured person has successfully completed the account upgrade, or sets up a user account in the Barmer-App after December 14, 2023, they will automatically have set up a security device. Each insured person therefore has exactly one Barmer PIN and one associated security device. The Barmer PIN is entered exclusively on the associated security device.

You can only use the Barmer user account again after you log in again and accept the latest version of privacy consents and the terms of use.
You can delete your Barmer user account at any time. To do so, go to user account management in the Meine Barmer member area in the app or on the web. Alternatively, you can submit the deletion request by phone.
If you delete your Barmer user account, all data relating to your Barmer user account, your member area Meine Barmer, and your digital mailbox with all messages contained in the mailbox overview will be deleted.
If your Barmer user account is not activated within 63 days, it is automatically deleted by Barmer.
The user account is also deleted once the insurance relationship has ended. Insured persons receive a notification 10 days prior to and immediately after the deletion.
If the insurance relationship ends due to the death of the insured person, the user account is blocked and a notification sent 10 days before deletion.
Barmer is entitled to block access in the event of unauthorized access.
To protect your access from unauthorized access by third parties, Barmer sends an email or text message during security-relevant processes (for example, when a password is changed) to the preferred notification channel you specified when creating the Barmer user account.

These digital care services constitute what is known as special care under section 140a of Book V of the German Social Code (SGB V). Additional requirements apply to this care, which you can consult at any time in the contract's participation terms within Teledoktor. This allows you to conveniently use, among other things, remote medical treatment in the form of a video consultation, or obtain an assessment by a physician for skin problems via the Digital Skin Check. You can receive treatment via video call or, for the Digital Skin Check, based on an asynchronously prepared report, within the scope of medical feasibility. These are voluntary, optional services.
