Data protection

We want you to feel secure when visiting our website. For this reason, the protection of your personal data is very important to us. We tell you what data we store, when we store it, and how we use it.

Personal data is only collected on the Barmer website to the extent that this is required for technical purposes. Under no circumstances is collected data sold or passed on to third parties for other reasons without your consent. Barmer adheres strictly to regulations regarding data protection.

Communication via email

When you send us an email, your email address will only be used for correspondence with you. Unencrypted emails have the potential to be read by third parties. Therefore, in your own interest, we respond to personal benefits inquiries containing sensitive social data via conventional mail or in the protected Barmer inbox, provided you are registered for this service.

Personal data

If you have made personal data available to us, we will only use this to respond to your inquiries, to implement contracts concluded with you, and to perform technical administration functions.

You data will not be passed on to third parties without your consent, and it will not be used for any purpose other than those stated. You have the right to withdraw given consent with future effect, at any time. The stored personal data will then be deleted immediately.

We have taken technical and organizational measures that ensure adherence to the regulations regarding data protection and to the Barmer principles of data security. Our employees are obliged to adhere to the principle of secrecy regarding social data and are regularly trained in the principles of data protection. Service providers contracted by us are contractually bound to adhere to the rules of the SGB (German Social Code), to the German Federal Data Protection Act, and to the Barmer data protection declaration.

Anonymous data

On some occasions we ask you for certain information in order to provide you with the correct tips and responses. This data cannot be linked to your identity.

Barmer collects information transmitted to us by your browser and automatically stores it in your server log files.

Your address is stored for a short period of time in connection with your access to our servers. This information is stored so that we can detect and then trace threats such as spam, viruses, or attacks on our servers.

The requirements of the German Telemedia Act (TMG) are fulfilled.

A cookie is a small text file that is temporarily stored by our webserver each time you visit.

We use cookies to implement important user functions. Whenever you use an online service, you receive an identification number and nothing else, and this number is stored in a cookie. The stored cookies thus contain no personal data. They are deleted after your visit. The cookies are stored neither on your local hard disk, nor on our server.

Any time you are asked to enter data about yourself, your data will be protected during the online data transfer by means of

encryption, which prevents it from being read by unauthorized parties. We use 128-bit encryption.

System security

All personal data entered by you is stored on a specially protected server. Access to this server is only granted to a small number of Barmer employees and authorized representatives of Barmer, who are entrusted with the technical and editorial maintenance of the Barmer web pages.

Security is given top priority at Barmer. For this reason, we have had our web presence thoroughly tested by an independent body. Experts have been able to confirm for us that the Barmer system guarantees the highest possible level of security.

Our data processing center, for example, is certified in accordance with 17799, is subject to ongoing security checks, and is sealed off from the outside through various measures such as firewalls.
